How Close Are You and Your Best Friend?

Yesterday was one of my girl friend's birthday. We went out for supper at Denny's with her best friend, and as usual she talked the most =)

She mentioned that sometimes she wonders why she doesn't want to have any boyfriend, she just want to date, and she asked me if that's "okay?" My response was "Yeah, you shouldn't get into any relationship until you're ready." Then her best friend admitted that she feels the same way, she enjoys dating since she believes that boyfriends only bring problems. Well...I couldn't agree more. But then I came up with this theory...

They've been best friends since middle school [I think so], my friend came to the US first, then one year later her best friend came along, and live with my friend. Since then, they're always together. Even when one of them dates, the other one comes along, which I find pretty weird. I think that affects the way they think. They're always there for each other, who needs a boyfriend? Some people even think that they're lesbians, some think they're just plain weird.

When I told them that, they agree with me. I understand with the fact that they're best friends, I have my best friends too, but I don't have to be with them ALL THE TIME, especially on a date, unless it's a double date. Well...somehow I believe that it's unhealthy to be too close to someone that makes you feel like you don't need anybody else.
