Ketosis Confusion

I just read one of the fliers that I took from the Health Center at CSUSB. It's about dieting, and there's a small section on the flyer talks about Ketosis Confusion.

"Popular high-protein, low-carbohydrate diets creat a condition known as "ketosis" to make the body lose weight.

Ketosis is when the body burns fats instead of carbohydrates for fuels. Ordinarily, this only happens when a person is starving or has untreated diabetes.

Many health experts believe ketosis is dangerous. Ketosis can cause headaches, nausea, constipation, dizziness, bad breath, and possible kidney damage."

I'm on the low-carb diet myself, even though gue gak anti2 banget 'ma yang namanya carb, but ada orang2 yang bener2 gak mau mengkonsumsi carb. Padahal carb itu penting buat energy, buat mikir, and believe it or not pembakaran lemak jadi lebih efektif dengan adanya carb.

Inilah susahnya hidup di US. Ada beribu2 macem diet yang diikutin berjuta2 orang dengan harapan bisa punya badan sekeren supermodel2-nya Victoria's Secret. Sayangnya, gak semua orang mau mencari tau tentang diet2 itu, or gimana cara diet yang bener. In other words, not everybody is educated enough about dieting. Ada yang cut on carbs, tapi tetep aja makan makanan yang high in fat or sugar, apa bedanya kalo kayak gitu? Or bela2in starving ampe sakit, padahal harusnya makan aja seperti biasa tapi ditambah exercise gitu.

So I think it's a good idea to go to your school Health Center or Wellness Center to learn what you need to know about your health.
